Murray's 6th L.P. released in 1973.
(Of regular L.P.'s ~ Not Children's ~ Christmas nor Greatest Hits)
This set is the same 10 songs as on the original 1973 L.P. release of 'Danny's Song'
except for the fact that the first 5 tracks are the original recordings
and the last 5 tracks are recorded many years later ~ live at the National Arts Center.
Three songs made the chart ~ their here & one B-side.
1. Danny's song.
2. What about me ~ B/W ~ Let sunshine have it's day.
3. He thinks I still care.
'I'll be home' is a great track.
Here's repeated 'Put your hand in the hand' from Murray's 2nd album
and 'I know' from her 4th album.
Plus 'Ease your pain' was also on the album with Campbell ~ but here it's a solo.
This same album ~ but of all original recordings can be found on a twofer
'Anne Murray & Glen Campbell' /// 'Danny's Song'
Come 1973, Anne Murray was finally being recognized as being more than that barefoot blonde chick from Canada singing about a bird in the snow by sinking her teeth into a Kenny Loggins chestnut entitled, "Danny's Song," the album's first single which was all over America's airwaves. Additionally, one half of this CD was recorded live at the Ottawa Performance Center in Canada and features a couple of her earlier hits, "What About Me" and "Put Your Hand in the Hand." The studio sides are typical Murray- understated, creamy and moody, while the live sides are energized and featuring her awesome, soulful band backing her up. This was a HUGE record for Anne back then and was followed up by her even bigger "Love Song" set a year later in 1974. This is required listening for anyone wishing to acquaint themselves with this woman's incredible (earlier) works or for any fan who would like this CD minus the Glen Campbell duets segment which is featured in the Signature Series as a twofer. Myself, I'm not a Campbell fan, so I'm happy to own this one separately and elated that the live cuts sound so brilliant on CD. You can also check out some of these concert performances on Youtube. She gets her boogie on with the soulful Barbara George remake, "I Know," which is featured on this CD as well.
