- Nice offering from the Canadian songbird...

I have just obtained a used copy of this CD, and it's an overall solid offering from 1990, though perhaps not as uniformly strong as the 1991 follow-up, "Yes I Do." Both of these albums were produced by Nashville veteran Jerry Crutchfield, and there's a nice mix of a pop flavoring balanced with sufficient strings to classify it as "country", or "early 90's" country, anyway.

Best cuts are the suprisingly Jamaican-flavored offering "Bluebird," which showcases Anne in fine form, and the stellar track, "The Final Say," an ode to the power of true love. The album's closer, "A New Moon, An Old Flame And You" is also pleasant. A couple of weaker tracks are present here ("Mean Old Moon" and A Little Short of Love") but overall, worth your time to listen. For some reason, the song "Wrong End of the Rainbow" is repeated on both this CD and the "Yes I Do" album. Not sure what prompted that, but, in any case, give it a try.

- My sad addiction: A Confession

Annie's final years with Capitol were so distressing. Nondescript album covers, nondescript album titles "You Will," "Yes, I Do," nondescript songs. I was so happy when she took off and re-emerged with topnotch albums such as "Croonin'." BUT. I find myself returning again and again to this last few listless, not-trying-hard Capitol projects. The songs are all quality, many are unusual, and Anne's singing is heartfelt, flawless and overpowering in its beauty. Taken one by one these later albums were bland medicine. In retrospect, they sound lovely and memorable.

- Anne Murray ~ Great easy listening.

Worth the purchase ~ Anne deliverers one of her best ~ 'Hold me (just a little longer)' ~

it's a great song ~ sung with soulful grit.

2. Murray does a great cover of ~ 'A new way out' ~ a top 20 for Karen Brooks in 1982.

3. With the feel of the islands ~ 'Bluebird' ~ was a top 40 hit for Murray & is one of the best tracks here.

4. A slow ballad ~ 'Wrong end of the rainbow' ~ is also on Murray's next album 'Yes I do'

5. Another ballad ~ 'Mean old moon' ~ is a solid track.

6. An up-tempo pop track ~ 'You will' ~ has a good beat and rhythm.

7. The ballad ~ 'The final say'~ is a great song & very much the style of Murray's love songs from the late 70's.

8. Another cover ~ 'Feed this fire' ~ was a top 5 hit for Murray in 1990 ~

originally released by Keith Stegall in 1985.

9. 'A little short on love' ~ a slow ballad.

10. 'A new moon and you'~ is a lovely song with a waltz melody.

This is Anne Murray's 22nd album from 1990.
