- Great mid-eighties country album

This album, released originally in 1985, yielded three major country hits (Old hippie, Lie to you for your love, You're my favorite waste of time) and while I would agree that these are the best songs here, the others are definitely worth a listen. The brothers wrote or co-wrote five of the songs here but I've not heard any of the other songs elsewhere so they may also be originals. In any case, it was rare for Howard and David to record covers.

Although the brothers didn't plan for a career in country music, they adapted well to its requirements and this, like many of their albums, has more of a traditional sound than some of the music recorded in Nashville at the time, with steel guitar (played by Sonny Garrish) prominent on most tracks.

Apart from the hits, I particularly like Everybody's somebody's darling (with Nicolette Larson on backing vocals), I'm gonna hurt her on the radio, Jeannie Rae and The single man and his wife, but I like all the songs here.

If you enjoy the music of the Bellamy brothers and want more than just the hits, this album is worth a listen - if you can find a copy of it.
