Disco de Bobby Bare: “Down & Dirty...Plus”
 Descripción (en inglés) :
Originally released in 1979, DOWN AND DIRTY...PLUS is an expanded reissue of one of the great live albums of the entire 1970s outlaw country movement. Influenced as much by blues and rock & roll as he is by traditional country, Bobby Bare steamrollers through outdated genre descriptors on storming tunes like "Good For Nothing Blues" and "Numbers." However, Bare was also an effective ballad singer, as shown by his touching versions of "Some Days Are Diamonds" and Townes Van Zandt's heartbreaking "Tecumseh Valley."

- Classic! It was worth the wait.
Of course this cd finally is released after I jumped through all the necessary hoops to convert my vinyl LP to CD! Even so, I'm thrilled to have the cd at last, not only for the improved sound quality over my converted format, but for the additional tunes. Bare was never better than on this album, and that's saying something. Pointed, poignant, facetious, playful, even angry and bitter -- he displays the full range of emotions here, and never, ever goes over the top. IMHO this is one of the top 10 country LPs of all time. When the Tim McGraws and the Kenny Chesneys of the entertainment world can display this kind of range and talent, I'll buy'em, but not until.

- It's been a long time coming
Thank heavens they finally released "Down & Dirty" on CD! My cassette of it gave way years ago and I have been searching for the CD since. This is truly one of the best recordings ever made.

- love it but how live is it?
Bare is awesome, song selection great, but the crowd noise sounds canned. Listen to the start of each song. Is it live in the studio with all the musicians playing at the same time (and massive applause and sound effects added later) or live on stage with an actual crowd there? I think Bobby Bare is fantastic, but the "liveness" sounds manufactured here. Thoughts anyone?
- Live?
This wasn't a live album when I has the original. I was crazy about the LP and a friend had to borrow it,(never again), didn't pay his rent and the management kept it because it was on the turntable. I'm not sure if I should buy it until I can listen to it. It's one of the best country albums ever. Bare never did get the respect he's earned on media and the long tours he used to do. At one point he was on the road doing 325 dates a year. Doesn't leave much down time. Even on the 325th night he was at his best. Totally loved what he was doing. Oh what the hell, I'll buy it. The crowd noise can't be that bad if it's canned.
