- Powerful & polish voice ~ an IMPRESSIVE set of music.

This album reflects great individual style and polish.

That's always been the case with Brenda Lee's music,

and this 1991 release of contemporary country music is no different.

Her voice here still maintains strong ~ with versatile capability's!

Two 45 singles were released form this C.D. ~

1. "A little unfair" b/w "Some of these days"

2. "Your one and only" b/w "You better do better".

Neither release made it into the top 100.

That fact seems to be a lack of promotion, there's nothing lacking here in quality.

Track listing:

1. "Once love makes a fool of you"

2. "Love is fair"

3. "Against my will"

4. "Lonely too long"

5. "Some of these days"

6. "You better do better"

7. "When he leaves you"

8. "A little unfair"

9. "Standing tall"

10. "Your one and only"

Brenda's voice is dynamic, powerful and polished here through-out the album,

and her delivery of "Lonely to long" is superb!

This C.D. is worth buying for the soul she puts in that one song alone.

This excellent collection includes the classic, "Some of these days",

another outstanding ballad, with Brenda's delivery being the best I've ever heard.

This strong set of songs is for anyone who loves good music.

I've been fan of Brenda Lee's music a long time and had the good fortune of being included in a group of fans

that helped with Brenda's booth at Fan Fair in the early 1980's.

Brenda and her husband Ronnie are very down-to-earth, warm and gracious people and invited the group to their home.

That was a memorable experience for all!

Brenda autographed records and didn't mind having pictures taken of her & Ronnie & their home.

I had to smile when I first saw the front cover of this C.D. ~ reflecting their warmth and down-to-earth nature ~

this photo is taken on Brenda's front porch.

Footnote: These comments are only for the C.D. with Brenda all in white, sitting on a porch.

With Amazon bunching items together these comments have landed other places also.

Album was produced in 1991 by Warner Brothers.

- 1991 album shows Brenda as good as ever

This album was largely ignored because, as far as most people were concerned, Brenda belonged to a bygone age. Certainly, she had huge success as a pop singer in the sixties and had some success as a country singer in the seventies, but here Brenda showed that she could record great country music in the nineties. Backing vocalists include Dennis Locorriere (of Dr Hook) and the Forester sisters.

Brenda recorded songs by some of the best songwriters around including Beth Neilsen Chapman, Jesse Winchester and Karen Staley. The set opens with three excellent ballads - Once love makes a fool of you, Love and Against my will. The tempo picks up a little for Lonely too long - this title has been used for several songs and is not the same as the one on Trouble with the truth (Patty Loveless). Some of these days is a fine mid-tempo song.

You better do better is a great up-tempo song, previously recorded by Baillie and the boys for their album, Lights of home. In an earlier era, Brenda might have rocked really hard on this song but they way she does it here suits me just fine. Next comes another outstanding ballad, When he leaves you, that Shania Twain covered for her untitled major label debut album. A little unfair was originally recorded by Lefty Frizzell - Willie Nelson later covered it for his tribute album to Lefty. Billie Jo Spears first recorded Standing tall - a song later revived by Lorrie Morgan. The set closes with Your one and only, which Barbara Mandrell included on her last original album (It works for me).

Brenda sounds mellower than in her most successful years, but just as brilliant. If you like her music primarily for her rousing rock'n'roll songs like Let's jump the broomstick, you may be best to avoid this album. If you enjoy her classic ballads like I'm sorry or her later country music, you will surely love this album.

- Brenda Lee Does It Again !

In her great CD Brenda Lees is fantastic ! Singing in a modern Nashville style her mature raspy voice does it for me ! Particular favorites are Love Is Fair,Against My Will,Lonely Too Long,You Better Do Better,A Little Unfair, and Your One And Only. Nice to see real talent can sustain a career. Brenda has been doing hers for over 50 years ! Fans will love this CD !
