Two of Brenda's best albums finally on CD. The transfer from original masters to digital CD is Superb! The sound is wonderful. I can only hope ACE Records continues to release Her albums on CD.
CD N°4 of a beautiful series of 5 CD's.
If you are intersted please read my review at CD N°1: Brenda Lee, "Grandma what great songs you sang!/Miss Dynamite".
Ciao,
Franco
This CD was shipped promptly and arrived safely. The reason I purchased it was I lost my album with "Organ Grinders Swing". I am sending this to my brother, who sent me the record album when I was a teenager. He keeps asking me what happened to it, so, after 45 years I think we will have no more discussions about it. Brenda Lee has always been a terrific singer back to when she appeared as that child with the booming voice on the Danny Thomas show. I am very happy with this CD.
This is Brenda Lee's 7th & 8th L.P. from 1962 and 63 on one C.D.
Brenda already had one album out in 1962, this was her second of the year.
Brenda's SEVENTH album, "BRENDA, THAT'S ALL" was on the L.P. chart for 22 weeks,
peaking at #20.
Here again, as on all of Brenda's L.P.'s is the strong foundation of 'standards'.
Two of her hit's are here --
"You can depend on me" and "Fool #1", charting at #6 and #3 respectfully.
Brenda delivers some great ballads here, such as - "Just out of reach" -
"I'm gonna find me a bluebird" - and the classic "Someday you'll want me to want you"
The album in livened up with these uptempo - rockers -
"Im sitting on top of the world" - "White silver sands" - "Organ grinder's swing" -
and the favorite "Why me?".
Here is another great album of quality music.
Brenda's EIGHT album, "ALL ALONE AM I", was 21 weeks on the L.P.chart, and peaked at #25.
Brenda's single "Alone am I" was a #3 hit. It's here among another group of classic's.
By now known for delivering a package of rejuvenated standards,
this album is equally memorable for quality music.
"My prayer" - "All by myself" - "Come rain or come shine" and "I hadn't anyone till you"
are all very beautifully delivered.
Some uptempo - rockers are - "By myself" - "It's all right with me" and "Lover".
This entire double C.D. gives great easy listening pleasure.
These are the exact album original recordings, remastered by Ace Records in 2006.
All 24 tracks on this C.D. are stereo, and sound exceptional!
Included is a nice 10 page booklet with some pictures,
and an overview of Breanda's career to the point of this set.
