Love his voice. It is so easy to download purchases from Amazon through my Kindle Fire. I just ordered the new Kindle Fire and am excited about putting it to use.
Almost instantly, I could invision my dad working around the house and humming, singing, or whistling the songs on this album. The songs on this ablum are actually stories set to a tune. The tunes are upbeat and catchy even when the story is dark (ex.. The Snakes Crawl At Night is about the murder of a cheating wife and her lover). I'm sure there are probably some greats missing from this ablum but does consist of 14 of his very popular songs. Charley Pride was an exceptional entertainer with his rich voice and story telling style. It's a shame he didn't get any more recongition than he did. He should be right up there with Hank Williams and Elvis Presely. If you love country music, you can't go wrong with this album.
Pride could do no wrong for almost twenty years, with an almost unthinkable 51 Top Ten country hits between 1966 and 1984. This collection focuses on his earliest singles, 1966-1972 (plus one straggler from 1976), but even from that period, half a dozen Top Ten hits are missing. As such, consider this a sampler; the comprehensive box set
will cost you an arm and a leg in comparison.
my dad's kind of country when i was just a little kid 1968-1970?? he hated all the hippies and they're kind of music of that day the beatles/the british invasion...ecttttt. i loved it all inculding his kind the old tyme country of that day,another one for my cd collection..
