- Great Album Highly recomended

This is one of the best duet albums I have bought in a long time. As a hudge CDB fan I highly recomend this album. The old Johnny Cash song, "Jackson" is preformed by Charlie and Gretchen Wilson, I have to say its the best version of that song I have ever heard.

- Same old thing

Well, I love the Charlie Daniels Band to death, always have. But really, how many versions of Long Haired Country Boy do we need? Overall, the band performs well, so hence the three stars. It's just a shame they aren't performing well with new songs.... I'd love to hear an album of new stuff. Unfortunately, the band in the last few years has mainly stuck to redoing their old stuff, over and over again just with different guest artists each time....

- An Excellent Take on Some Great Classics

I found this CD half off at a local bookstore the other day and since I had a gift card I decided to take a chance and buy it. My decision paid off. Charlie is apparently getting on the "duet bandwagon" that so many artists have been riding recently. However, I would agree with one of the other reviewers that this is the best of the "duet albums" I have heard. It really sounds like CDB had a great deal of fun doing this album. In many ways, it reminds me of a bunch of friends getting together and jamming on some of their favorite songs.

What really impresses me the most, though, is how loyal CDB remains to the original songs. I'm generally not one for cover versions, but CDB retains the essential elements of what made the songs great to begin with and then puts a unique Charlie Daniels sound into the mix. For instance, "What'd I Say" retains the bluesy-rock guitar, but adds Charlie's gravelly voice to really spice it up. One of my favorite songs on the CD is "The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down," which stays true to the slow-tempo "defeatist" feel that The Band portrayed in this song about looking at the Civil War from the losing side. "Jackson" also rocks and has a distinct Johnny Cash feel to it -- Gretchen Wilson was the perfect pick for that song. "Signed Sealed Delivered" also delivers on its original Motown sound. And I love the Marty Stuart team-up on Charlie's "God Save Us All From Religion." It really has a soulful flavor to it. The other two CD-penned songs-- "Evangeline" and "Long Haired Country Boy" are nice updates on the originals.

My least favorite cuts are the Dylan songs "Like a Rolling Stone" (which I never liked anyways) and "Maggie's Farm" (which just grates on me). But those aren't horrible cuts.

This CDB CD is well worth purchasing PDQ.
