After his rock'n'roll period, most notable for his international pop hit, It's only make believe, Conway established himself as a country singer but it wasn't easy to convince country fans that his rock'n'roll days were past. Nevertheless, he succeeded beyond expectations although none of his country records ever came close to matching It's only make believe. Seven of the songs here made number one on the Billboard country charts. The four that didn't were I wonder what she'll think about me leaving, Darling you know I wouldn't lie, That's when she started to stop loving you and The image of me.
By far the most important track here is Hello darlin', a classic country song. Any country fans who still doubted Conway's credentials as a country singer were won over by this record. Among the other tracks, my favorites are Fifteen years ago and To see my angel cry, but there are many wonderful songs here.
This album serves as a reminder of Conway's early country hits, but there are many compilations around now with a lot more tracks. Still, this is a nice collection if you can pick it up cheaply.
This was Conways's first release into Country Music. I have the "plastic" album, cassette, & the VHS which wore out. Finally I got not one but 2 of this copy on CD. It is one of my very favorite albums he did & it is song for song like the orig. album. Was thrilled to find it on Cd, if your a Conway fan this is a must have for your collection.
I try & buy everything I can that he ever did. Been a fan of his for over 5 decades. One of the best vocal ranges of any singer I have ever heard & I never tire of hearing him sing.
This CD is a true bonus buy for anyone who may have worn out their album because I said it is song for song from the album.
