If you want an album that features the best of Conway's early, rockabilly tunes, this one is it. The MGM Years is a great compilation of some of his earliest hits and the rockabilly style that he somewhat abandoned after his first few albums for a more traditional country sound.
While I appreciate some of Twitty's more country efforts which made up the bulk of his career (how can you not love "Hello Darlin"?), my favorites are all the hard swingin' rock and roll tunes of his early days that remind me a lot of Johnny Burnette's "non-mainstream" rockabilly stuff that never got played, except for perhaps the infamous sexual innuendo filled "Train Kept 'a Rollin'" which was later popularized by Aerosmith, which is a horrible version if you've heard the original.
Even if you've never been into Conway Twitty or didn't know that he had a rockabilly era to his career, if you're a rockabilly fan, pick this up.
i knew the song"it's only make believe"and read his early material was pretty cool, but this was better than i thought.great if you like 50's/early elvis style rockn'roll.
