Craig Morgan Album: “I Love It”
Description :
Personnel: Craig Morgan (vocals); Larry Beard (acoustic guitar, banjo, mandolin); Phil O'Donnell (acoustic guitar, harmonica); Jeff King (electric guitar); Mike Johnson (steel guitar, dobro); Glen Duncan, Rob Hajacous (fiddle); Jonathan Yudkin (strings); Jimmy Nichols (piano, Hammond B-3 organ, keyboards); Craig Morris (piano); Mike Brignardello, Larry Paxton (bass); Chris McHugh, Randy Hardison, Paul Leim (drums).
Producers: Craig Morgan, Phil O'Donnell, D. Scott Miller.
Recorded at Legends Studios, Nashville, Tennessee.
Possessed of a smooth and powerful "new traditionalist" singing style that often recalls the much-revered pipes of George Strait and Randy Travis, Craig Morgan delivers an album full of good-natured homespun country seemingly in stark opposition to his former career as an elite U.S. Army commando and paratrooper. Amid gently sawing fiddles and strumming acoustic guitars, the vocalist straightforwardly professes his love for his old hometown, traditional values, and the girl next door. Morgan, who wrote or co-wrote six of the 11 songs, has an eye for plainspoken but vivid detail, which often gives the album the feel of a Garrison Keillor or Tom T. Hall-style travelogue. On the more serious-themed songs, the singer is equally at home with his subject, projecting a confidence and natural warmth usually only found in much more experienced artists.

- A CD Not To Be Left On The Shelf

I'm not ashamed to say that I like Craig Morgan. He may not wear a Stetson or ride in rodeos, but I assure you that he's country. When you hear a Craig Morgan song, you hear a country song. Granted, if your idea of country music is Tim McGraw and Shania Twain, Craig is not for you. But, if you like to kick-back and hear some tug-at-your-heart crooning, look no further. "I Love It", Craig's sophmore attempt (and debut with BBR) is a winner! From the opening title track, the direction of this album is set in stone. The direction? Traditional Country. "In The Dream", a song that describes itself, echos Keith Whitley and Conway Twitty. If listening to a good tear-jerker is your forte, "Almost Home" will fill that void. The song, originally put on hold for George Strait, is Craig's highest charting single to date. With a little promotion, country radio should ebrace "Always Be Mine". The song, which is not your average boy-meets-girl-boy-loses-girl, is probably one of the best written songs on the album. There are no fillers on "I Love It". Any one of these songs could be serviced to radio, with rave reviews close behind. We should all tip our hats to Craig Morgan. There may very well be alot country artists, but few of those artists sing 'country'.

- Can't Go Wrong With This CD

Everytime I was listening to a song it was like "Kay, this one is gonna be my favourite..." then I'd hear the next song!

The cd starts with the title track, which was originally recorded by Clay Walker.

Then there's his most recent single 'Almost Home' and 'Look At Us' which is an upbeat song about a couple looking back at the beginning of their relationship.

'You Never Know' talks about not knowing what's around the corner, could be a new beginning, or it could be the end.

'Where Has My Hometown Gone' is about leaving that small town to chase after bigger dreams, but when he finally makes it back home a few years later, the little town isn't so little anymore.

And the song I finally determined to be the best.... 'Friday Afternoon'

He gets a call from his ex-wife saying she's moving to Boston. He says he could fight it, but somebody will lose either way. Says he's crying as there was nothing to say, but it might as well be China, or the dark side of the moon, 'cause he could never be there every Friday afternoon.

You realize at this point in the song he's got a little boy with this woman (at the beginning it seems she's simply leaving him) and he says stuff like "there's little league in Boston, but who will coach his team?" and "how's he gonna grow up without me?"

He asks about Christmas, and says if he's not there for his birthday, he's gonna be hurt. It goes on and on....

Obviously this is a VERY sad song! The lyrics are so strong, and Craig's voice sounds so sincere. I'd say this album is worth checking out just for THIS SONG, but the other ten are fantastic to!

- You will LOVE "I Love It"

There are many "country" singers out there releasing "country" songs, but this man truly knows what country is. He writes, sings, and performs country music the way it should be experienced. Every song on this CD is a winner. His top 10 charting "Almost Home" is strong enough to be considered a classic. The emotion in every note is amazing. If you've been missing the sound of country amidst today's country/pop confusion, check this man out and remember his name. He's just going to get bigger and better.

- Craig Morgan concert

I saw Craig Morgan on a riverboat cruise last fall. He was a great performer. He had just released "Almost Home". I highly recomend his c.d.'s to anyone who loves clean country music.

- Craig Morgan-I love it

I bought this cd yesterday and I've listened to it a few times. It has a great beat in every song. And it also has so good songs like my favorite song Almost home, and others that are good are the title track I love it, In the dream, Every friday afternoon, God, family, and country, and another favorite Where has my hometown gone. This cd is one you need to check out. Most people dont know much about craig morgan but he is a great artist, a devoted christian, and is married and served in the military a number of years. His songs tell it like it is, and I believe in a few years he will be a major country artist.
