Engineers: Julian King, Brian David Willis, Rich Hanson.

At a few points on HARD RAIN DON'T LAST, New Country singer/songwriter Darryl Worley betrays the fact that his country roots extend beyond Garth Brooks. The lyrics of "Those Less Fortunate Than I" and "Feels Like Work" evince a proletarian sentiment that echoes Merle Haggard, and indeed "Too Many Pockets" flirts with vintage Bakersfield-style honky-tonk.

But judging from the pristine acoustic guitar arpeggios on the ballads "The Way Things Are Goin'" and "Second Wind," Worley has absorbed as much of the Eagles and James Taylor as anything else. Even so, he's no troubadour mope. "Who's Gonna Get Me Over You" and "Sideways," among others, are uptempo numbers brimming with energy and enthusiasm. In the end, Darryl Worley is simply a singer who's assimilated several different veins of American pop music and put them together into something he can call his own.

- Darryl Worley- A breath of fresh air
I listen to all kinds of music, but was raised on Country, which remains my favorite. In the 80's, you could have traditional country songs played on the radio, followed by a contemporary country song. The 90's wasnt like that at all, but I feel that Traditional is definitely coming back. Alan Jackson, and a few others kept it country, but were out numbered. Now, with the help of Brad Paisley, Craig Morgan, and Darryl Worley, and a handful of other new artists, I feel that they are carrying the banner for traditional country music, and will reclaim their spot on "Country" radio. Darryls new cd is very fresh and exciting. To be honest, the first single didnt catch my ear, but man, the second single "Good day to run", I knew this was a REAL COUNTRY singer. So many great songs, but my favorite is ballad called "Second Wind". The first time I listened to that song, it brought tears to my eyes thinking that if Keith Whitley were alive today, thats the type of songs we'd be hearing from him. Darryl put together one excellent collection for being the debut cd, and I highly recommend it to anyone who loves Traditional Country Music.

- Pure Country
I have to say that out of all the New Artist(s) putting music out there, you can't get anymore Country!
There is not one "bad" song on this CD. All songs are wonderfly written and sung.
Look out Alan Jackson, Darryl Worley is on your tail and gaining speed!
This one is a keeper!

- some inside information
this is to all of the darryl worley fans out there. thanks so much for all the wonderful reviews and especially all of the "God bless yous". darryl has just returned from shooting his third video. the single and video for SECOND WIND will be released, i think, sometime in the last half of march. it was shot in savannah georgia. i haven't seen it yet, but he said that he thought that it will turn out great. don't let the beach scenes fool you into thinking that it was a warm summer day; it was forty degrees and the wind was blowing 25mph. he said that the film crew were all wearing parkas while he was running around barefoot. brrr. he has read all of your reviews and is very flattered that y'all could think so much of a plain ol country boy. thanks from all of us hometowners as well. we've always loved him and we are glad that you do too. God bless you all.

- BACK TO THE ROOTS OF COUNTRY MUSIC!
A great album that brings back memories of old. Today's country music is more pop than it is country, and it is good to finally hear a man who knows what country music should sound like. From the title cut, Hard Rain Don't Last to the smash hit, When You Need My Love, Darryl Worley keeps the music real. He wrote most of the songs on the album from his real life experiences, and at age 35 he has a lot to tell. And I can tell you this, YOU NEED TO BUY THIS ALBUM!

- I'm not a big country fan and I bought this CD...
I am not a big country fan and I bought this CD. In this case, video sold the music. I happened to catch the video of "A Good Day to Run", liked it, and liked Darryl. To be honest, after its initial play, I was rather ambivalent about this CD...a little too country for me. Then, I listened again....and again....and again...and again....These are great songs! And how can you not like someone who makes the effort to thank so many people who have believed in him, that it takes up an entire page of the CD insert, with the tiniest print?! Darryl Worley co-wrote 10 of the 12 songs on this CD; very admirable, indeed. My four favorites? "A Good Day to Run" (a great "first thing in the morning" song), "Hard Rain Don't Last", "Second Wind" (which makes me want to take the next jet south to the Gulf of Mexico and sit at the water's edge), and "When You Need My Love". I'm so happy that I bought this CD!
