- Dolly Parton "Treasures"

Again something I was exposed to while listening to NPR radio. The album is so old that I could not locate it on iTunes and therefore purchased the CD for one song that is great on this album "Riding the Peace Train". FAB!

- "Extremely Excellent Album"

By the time Dolly Parton recorded "Treasures" in 1996 she found herself, for the first time in her career, without a major record label. Columbia had dropped her the year before as her last few albums were not big sellers, so MCA welcomed her with open arms. What resulted was this long-forgotten covers album, Dolly's second such record (the first being 1984's "The Great Pretender"). Although the record sold poorly going as high as a paltry #21 on the Country Charts and #122 on the Pop side, the album is filled with some great songs including "Satin Sheets", "Peace Train", "Walking on Sunshine", and my personal favorite "Behind Closed Doors" in which Dolly sang and dedicated to Charlie Rich on the '96 CMA Awards.

MCA would drop Dolly after "Treasure's" release citing the album didn't sell enough copies to keep her on board as a country recording act. However, the following year Dolly would release "Peace Train" as a dance hit that would land in the Top 10 on the Dance Charts. "Peace Train" and two other remix versions, "Two Doors Down" and "Walking on Sunshine", would be made available in 1997 on Dolly's only dance album, "Walking on Sunshine".

To coincide with the release of "Treasures" Dolly did a successful CBS television special also entitled "Treasures".

- 3 WORDS FAB U LOUS

Excellent sound. Of course rejected by radio. Don't make the same mistake. This CD will surley be a "Treasure" to your collection. Cannot get enough of this version of "After the Goldrush" with S Cox & A Krause on harmony. Other great ones are "Just When I Needed You Most"; "Peace Train"; "Before the Next Teardrop Falls"; "Behind Closed Doors"; "Walking on Sunshine"; and "Somethings Burning". Can't say enough about this wonderful CD. Don't miss out on this.

- dollys CD

I bought this CD for my mom, even though she only wanted it for one song. She said it didn't skip, and she looked every where for this CD.
