Dolly Parton's compilations are something to count on, another one seems to come out every few years. In many aspects they do not add up though, her career spans over 40 years and no compilation seems to do a fair or accurate job of putting together a diverse tracklisting that both is unique and covers all bases. Most compilations have the same songs and almost identical tracklistings. You own one, you own them all basically. That is until now. Released in Australia, this import LEGENDARY is a compilation worth owning. 50 songs in total, this compilation does a great job covering Parton's career span. 3 discs total, this is for everyone, be it the hardcore fan, or the new fan, this is a CD worth owning, for a cheap price! Another advantage to owning this is to have the original version of "Two Doors Down", which is very hard to find. There is also some material which is only available on her vinyl albums, which are scarcely available on CD. Overall its the best compilation out there, and should tide over well until RCA decides to pursue a boxed set which should cover all aspects of her career.

Until RCA decides that Dolly is worthy of a proper boxed set, this collection will have to do. It does a great job at that! Collecting 50 of Dolly's best known hits along with many great album cuts. It covers her entire run at RCA. There have been several collections of Dolly's in recent years but most use the same late 70's early 80's hits, ignoring Dolly's late 60's early 70's period. This set has it all. Some of the rare gems on the set include: "One Of Those Days", "I Really Don't Want To Know (with Willie Nelson)", "Almost In Love", "Great Balls Of Fire" and the rarest cut, the original version of "Two Doors Down" which has only appeared on the original LP version of her 1977 classic album "Here You Come Again". None of these tracks have appeared on CD in the states (and still haven't as this is an import!) Just about every other hit you could want is here, a great collection of Dolly's work. Even if you own all of Dolly's albums, you owe it to yourself to pick this up. Don't miss this one!!!

This cd has some of her best songs from her early days up to her late RCA years. Although all of these songs have already been released on one cd or another, there is a real gem in "Two Doors Down." This is the original release of the song that was on the Here You Come Again album. It starts "Lying across my lonely bed in this lonely old apartment." So if you want Dolly's best in one collection, this is the best deal.

I prefer this import version over the new remastered Cd that just came out last month, 2 to 1!! I love Dolly......
