This is one of the albums Don recorded on an independent label after radio (stupidly) stopped playing his music, but rest assured, it ranks with his finest work. The song selection, performance and arrangements are, as always with Don, absolutely superb. "Leaving For The Flatlands" is one of his best tunes in a folk-song style, and Bob McDill's "Shadow Land," with its haunting Celtic touches and evocative lyrics about an adult's memories of family problems he didn't understand as a child, is one of the most moving and beautiful songs I've heard in years. If you are a Don Williams fan, or you appreciate songcraft at a level you seldom see these days, then you won't regret buying this album.
