George has recorded plenty of duets in his time, but I regard this album as special. It opens with a brilliant solo track, She's my rock, that was a huge country hit for George, but which can also be seen as a tribute to the guests who take turns on the remaining nine tracks.
The other tracks, in order, are Hallelujah I love you so (with Brenda Lee), All I want to do in life (with Janie Fricke), We sure make good love (with Loretta Lynn), Daisy chain (with Barbara Mandrell), All fall down (with Emmylou Harris), Size seven round made of gold (with Lacy J Dalton), Our love was ahead of its time (with Deborah Allen), Slow burning fire (with Terri Gibbs) and Best friends (with Leona Williams).
As you can see, the guests offer plenty of variety, some being traditional country singers while others were pop-country singers. Some were major stars at the time the album was recorded while others weren't. Also, their voices were very different from each other. Your favorite tracks may therefore depend to some extent on who your favorite guests are but I'm a huge fan of most of them - and of George - so it's not that simple for me to choose between them. Let's just say that I love every track.
George recorded three other albums with different guests on each track, the other three being My very special guests, Friends in high places and Bradley barn sessions. Of the four, this is perhaps the least well known. The others are all easier to find on CD, though I believe this appeared briefly on CD at one time. This is my favorite among them, but not by much.
