- Brilliant country album may be his best ever

Country fans have always had mixed feelings about Glen but this album comes closer to traditional country than you might expect from Glen despite the presence of electric guitars, synthesizers and drums. There is no lush orchestra, although there is a violin. However, there are also acoustic and bass guitars, piano, mandola, fiddle and banjo and the way the sound comes across, it certainly sounds not too far removed from traditional country.

The songs are fascinating. They include a duet with Steve Wariner on a cover of Alain Toussaint's You are the one and a duet with Lacy J Dalton on Woodcarver, which is probably an original song and is an outstanding song. There is an instrumental cover of the William Tell overture - it is interesting to hear this done country style. Glen does excellent covers of Cheating is, a seventies country hit for Barbara Fairchild, and She's gone gone gone, an old Harlan Howard song. Larry Gatlin wrote If I could only get my hands on you - again, Glen sings this superbly. The remaining songs (On a good night, Walking in the sun, Tied to the tracks, Somebody's leaving, Jesus on your mind) are all excellent. I've not heard them elsewhere and they may all be original songs.

Glen never sounded better than on this album, which is a classic. If you want to hear Glen singing country music, this album is well worth searching for. It's better than any other album I've heard of his (and I've heard a few).

- A Nice Walk with Glen Campbell

Another great Glen Campbell CD, I missed out on due to country radio's not giving him any airplay. Released 1990/ I just bought it.

She's Gone, Gone, Gone-Fast paced with great guitar. However, does not rhyme! I'm guessing words were changed to modernize song, from train rolling farther down the track to plane flying farther across the sky. Still a good song.

You Will Not Lose- Nice antiphonal duet with Steve Wariner, and very interesting, catchy beat. I can't quite make out all the lyrics, but seems to be saying you will not lose if you follow your heart, and don't listen to horoscopes.

On a Good Night- A married couple, laments working hard and being too tired to do anything but fall right to sleep when they go to bed, but "On a good night, that's when we make up for lost time."

If I Could Only Get my Hands on You Now-About a lost love. He's holding her memory, but somebody else is holding her, and if he could he would be holding and loving her again. Very pretty.

Walkin' in the Sun- A song celebrating that the bad times are over, and now he's walkin' in the sun.

William Tell Overture- Awesome guitar instrumental! I've seen Glen Campbell playing this live, where he holds the guitar up over/behind his head for part!

Woodcarver- Nice duet with Lacy J. Dalton. A woman dreaming of the woodcarver carving her a home and a love, but she really wants a true love, and in the end the woodcarver offers her his love.

Cheatin' Is- A sad song, but oh so true, about what cheating is and its consequences. Very pretty tune.

Tied to the Tracks- A man's lost love is returning, his "head says 'run'," but his "heart says 'stay';" he feels like he's "Tied to the Tracks," with a "heartache train coming." Nice beat.

Somebody's Leaving- Another sad song of lost love and broken home. Style very reminiscent of "It's Only Make Believe," "It's Over," and "Crying."

Jesus on your Mind- Beautiful song, based on Scripture (Matthew 7:7) Nice Country Gospel. Trusting in the Lord Jesus is the key to this life.
