Disco de Gretchen Wilson: “All Jacked Up”
Descripción (en inglés) :
Personnel: Gretchen Wilson (vocals, guitar); Merle Haggard (vocals); J.T. Corenflos (acoustic guitar, electric guitar); John Willis, Bryan Sutton (acoustic guitar); Dean Hall, Kenny Greenberg, Tom Bukovac (electric guitar); Paul Franklin, Russ Pahl (steel guitar, lap steel guitar); Mike Johnson (steel guitar); Jonathan Yudkin (fiddle); Steve Nathan (piano, Hammond b-3 organ); Glenn Worf, Michael Rhodes (bass guitar); Eric Darken, Shannon Forrest, Chad Cromwell (drums, percussion); Wes Hightower, Liana Manis, Jon Nicholson (background vocals).
Recording information: Sony/Tree Studios, Nashville, Tennessee; Blackbird Studios, Nashville, Tennessee (2005).
While Gretchen Wilson's highly successful debut, HERE FOR THE PARTY, was a redneck manifesto for how to have a good time, her 2005 follow-up, ALL JACKED UP, is the next day's eyeopener. Wilson still gets drunk and quarrelsome on the raucous opening title track, but most of this 2005 album is surprisingly low-key, as a number of gentle ballads rub elbows with rural-minded mid-tempo songs (most notably "Politically Uncorrect," featuring the legendary Merle Haggard). Although Wilson mostly sticks to no-frills working-class anthems, she also sneaks in a beautifully melancholy Billie Holiday-like take on the jazz standard "Good Morning Heartache" as a hidden bonus track, showing that this "Redneck Woman" has a charmingly unpredictable streak.

- She Gives You What She Really Is

I have to laugh when people attack Gretchen for being exactly what she claims to be - a redneck woman.

She delivers some solid performances here and the writing is true to her heart, even on the few songs she did not write.

I bought the CD because a good friend is a co-writer on one of the songs. I was pleasantly surprised she tore into some real country songs - something most modern female singers who claim to be country music artists fear like the black plague.

I was surprised Gretchen grabbed "He Ain't Even Cold Yet" and sang it as honest honky-tonk country, though it is not as devastating a version as the same song sung by Ken Mellons a couple of years ago on his CD.

If country music is about truth, Gretchen sings it on this CD. It's the truth she loves and lives and I salute her for it. I especially like "Not Bad For A Bartender" because it is the modern-day equivalent of "Coal Miner's Daughter." She tells us who she is and how she got here. She also tells us in that song, "..if it can happen to me, it can happen to you," to keep our own American dreams alive in us by our seeing the success she has achieved so quickly.

She is unabashedly patriotic and supportive of the "little guy" as she sings "Politically Uncorrect."

The world quickly embraced the "Redneck Woman" and her honesty and she didn't betray that love by doing a U-turn toward Pop on this, her second CD.

She is saying, once again, "OK, you liked who I was the first time. Here's some more of the real me."

You may not like the Gretchen Wilson you woke up with after this second date but she is the same genuine version you fell in love with on the first date.

- Would give it more than 5 stars if I could

In Gretchen's words, hell yeah! I love this cd, with Gretchen's first album there were a few songs that I could skip and never miss them. With All Jacked Up I would never dare hit the skip button. Way better than Here for the Party.

While it is hard to pick a favorite song, I have to say that "California Girls" is my favorite. Way to go girl, the Hollywood Types get on my last nerve too.

- A surprise ending.

I was in a bad mood today, the kind you get when you see the lonely silver rain pouring down outside your window, until.....I decided to listen to this cd.

Unlike many fans I was not that thrilled with "All Jacked Up".

So why the five stars you ask? The bonus song at the end blew me away, totally unexpected! I know, I know, we have heard her perform it on her CMTV special but until I put my headphones on and listened to her voice it is just not the same.

It brightened my day. Thank you Gretchen

- Adds a soul to Country

Gretchen Wilson has an old soul and you hear it in her music. She has a powerful voice that's full of emotion. She draws you in and makes you want to pay attention! Gretchen is fun and light, as well as, deep and reflective. This is a great combination. Enjoy!

- Gretchen Wilson is hot as Georgia asphalt!

Gretchen Wilson is what you look for in a sexy, soultry, country and western "Diva". Her background makes her perfect for the grand ole anything! And she is great to look at, great looking gal!

Us California cowgirls love her music, her attitude, and her writing talent. The way she sings is like she is telling a story. When we ride our horses in the San Fernando Valley here in california, you will only here Gretchen Wilson on the CD player while we are drinking our beer, bathing the horses and getting saddled up for a long ride.

One thing that women love in a coutry song, is something to identify with. Even though we are college graduates, we can still identify with this woman with an 8th grade education because she is expressive in her music, helps us get in our country frame of mind, and makes us glad we are not all California girls.

I love Dolly Parton, Loretta Lynn, the late Patsy Cline, and Gretchen is right up there with the best of Country Music Divas, and I'm sure whe will have a lot more great songs to live by.

We truly appreciate her music and the new breath she is breathing on our way of life.

All Jacked up is so different than Redneck woman, the formula and the style is all hers, but just a jammin party song.

Gretchen is "hot as Georgia asphalt" and so is her music, especially "All jacked up"...uptimate country party song!
