Shelton Hank Williams, also known as Hank Williams III and Hank 3. (born December 12, 1972), is a singer, drummer, bassist, and guitarist. In addition to his honky tonk recordings, Williams' style alternates among country, punk and metal. He is the principal member of the punk metal band Assjack, the drummer for the Southern hardcore punk band Arson Anthem, and was the bassist for Pantera singer Phil Anselmo's band Superjoint Ritual. He has released seven studio albums, including five for Curb Records. Williams is the grandson of country music legend Hank Williams and the son of Hank Williams Jr..

Even alle Hankjes op een rij, zodat je niet in de war raakt: Shelton Hank Williams, ook wel Hank Williams de Derde of Hank 3 genoemd, is de kleinzoon van de legendarische countryzanger Hank Williams en zoon van Hank Williams Jr.

De jongste telg uit de Amerikaanse muzikantenfamilie maakt country, mixt dat met speedmetal, punk en hillbilly en kruipt net zo makkelijk achter het drumstel als voor op het podium met de banjo in de hand. Multi-instrumentalist Hank III heeft een trouwe fanschare over de hele wereld en goede contacten in de muzikantenscene. Zo drumt hij in de band Superjoint Ritual van Pantera-zanger Phil Anselmo. De afgelopen tien jaar bracht Hank onder eigen naam netjes elke twee of drie jaar een studioalbum uit. Tot afgelopen jaar, want toen verschenen er niet minder dan 4 albums tegelijkertijd!

Het dubbelalbum ‘Ghost to a Ghost/Guttertown’ bewandelt de countrymuziek in al haar aspecten en bevat gasten als Tom Waits en Les Claypool van Primus. Ja, dat las je goed: Tom Waits en Les Claypool! De albums ‘Attention Deficit Domination’ en ‘3 Bar Ranch Cattle Callin’ zijn een stuk steviger met de bekende metal- en punkinvloeden die hij al jaren in zijn muziek stopt. Genoeg nieuw en oud materiaal dus voor een wild avondje in de Effenaar. Hold on to your horses!
