This is another "masterpiece" of Country Gospel Music recordings from Hank Williams. Most of the songs are also in the 3 disc "Unreleased Recordings" set, which is a "masterpiece" itself. This CD includes some of the Gospel Songs from that set,but not all of them. For example "Dust on the Bible" & some other Gospel Classics are in the "3 disc set",but are not included in this cd. With this CD you get 12 songs from the "3 disc set", plus, 3 more songs, that were not in the "3 disc set". These "New" songs include: "Further Along", which is an outstanding Country, Gospel Classic, plus, "Thirty Pieces of Silver", & the Hank Classic "I Saw The Light". The special thing about this CD is, you get to hear Gospel Songs only, which makes it special. Both releases are 5 star masterpiece's to me!!!
Note: With this CD, you get "GREAT" liner notes, that expalin the "story" and "history" behind EVERY song on this CD. For example, "Precious Lord, Take My Hand" was written by the lengendary Thomas Dorsey, the Atlanta Bluesman who turned to Gospel Music. Likewise, it tells the story about the song "Furher Along", which was written by a Missoui Preacher, W.B.Stevens,after losing his son. Also, it explains the "story" behind the Hank written classic "I saw the Light". Each song, contains, an excellent story. All this "bonus" information makes this CD package, that much more special.
All of these songs were recorded live, on a morning radio program. The Drifting Cowboys Band, perform back-up vocals, and music for Hank, on all these songs.

This is an outstanding 15 song cd of Great Country Gospel Classics, very well performed by Hank Williams. I love it!!! If you like Country Gospel, you'll love it also. Therefore, I highly recommend this one!!! Thanks!!!
Hank Williams' influence on American music is heard in every song. Willie, Elis and Hank all took what they first learned---Gospel Music----and applied it to their own brands of music. These songs bring back memories of hot frame churches with ladies' fanning and fried chicken on the grounds afterwards.
Many songs that were familiar to me, but I never dreamed Hank Williams had recorded them. The CD is very good but recorded before Hank had really polished his singing into what it was in the 50's.
