My hat is off to BMG Germany for producing this nifty 2-CD compilation. Unlike most domestic (USA) compilations, this one has a theme to it. It includes BOTH sides of Jim's singles on the Abbott and RCA labels which charted from 1953-1960, with one exception. For some reason, "Look Behind You" was substituted for "I Know (And You Know)", the flip side of "Four Walls". Nevertheless, it is still an excellent tune - its inclusion only breaks the completeness of the compilation. Here, the listener will enjoy some hard-to-find-on-CD flip sides, such as "I'd Like To Be" (the B-side of "Billy Bayou") and "In A Mansion Stands My Love" (the B-side of "He'll Have To Go"), as well as all of Jim's classic hits from this time period. Next to the 16-CD Bear Family Box Set, this 2-CD compilation is, in this reviewer's opinion, the best available alternative.
First of all, we had a devil of a time getting this double CD but Amazon came thru for us and we have enjoyed it greatly-what a treat to hear the velvet voice of Jim again. Buy this two for one if you can find it, you won't be disappointed.
