Get ready Parrotheads the show, part of the Sag Harbor singer-songwriter’s “Workin’ ‘n’ Playin’ Tour,” will include openers Huey Lewis & The News! ... “Summer wouldn’t be complete without Jimmy Buffett at The Beach,” Jason Miller, president of Live Nation New York. “We are thrilled to welcome Jimmy Buffett and the Coral Reefer Band back to Long Island with special guests Huey Lewis & the News for the biggest party of the summer.”
Take note of the required dress code: bright-colored shirt (or Hawaiian shirt, if you have it), shorts, flip flops. With weather in the 20s in NY right now, warm weather attire sure sounds good. The annual parking lot party is considered to be one of the best tailgates among roadtripping Parrotheads. Some wacky land-lubbers stake out spots in the parking lot more than 8 hours before Buffett and his Coral Reefer Band take stage. They dance in flip flops with strangers and share frozen margaritas with new buddies wearing coconut bras.
Rules concerning tailgating are relaxed for this concert so fin-heads can keep searching for their lost shaker of salt in what’s become one of Jones Beach's most spirited outdoor events.
