- Definitely an underrated country music star!

I bought this CD on a whim because I had heard the title track and was intrigued by Joe's voice. Little did I know that I would be buying a CD that plays continuously in my car, at my house and at work. It has a party side to it with the ever upbeat, roll down your windows and turn the volume up "The Quittin' Kind" and the also upbeat but a little less feel good heartbreaker "It's Always Somethin'" and then it has its sensitive side with "A Night to Remember" and the heartfelt "I'm The Only Thing I'll Hold Against You". It's an all-around great CD from a star who deserves a little more attention than he receives.

- A good mix of Country with a few great upbeat songs

I dont know what the reviewer was thinking when he said a 'couple' of good songs. I rarely find a CD in which I could enjoy 9 out of 10 songs on the first listen, unless of course its a greatest hits album. I bet at least 2 other songs will be on CMT or across the radio waves after "A Night to Remember". One of them is track 4 "The Quittin' Kind' which is an excellent upbeat song. The other is track 5 "Better off gone" which is a slower song that picks up on the chorus, really making it great. This is my first review because I really dont like to take the time for this, but I just HAD to back this CD because its obvious Joe Diffie put a lot of work into this one.

- AN ALBUM TO REMEMBER

When the kiddy-country acts of today are in the bargain bin at Wal-Mart........When David Kersh and Shania Twain lose all their teenage fans............there will still be a voice that will ring TRADITION!!!!!!!!!!! That voice belongs to JOE DIFFIE!!!!!!I have purchased every one of Joe's CDs, and I've yet to be unimpressed! His voice has always been on the traditional side of the fence, even if his music has pushed the envelope. "A NIGHT TO REMEMBER", Diffie's 9th album with EPIC RECORDS, is a a Godsend!!!!!! From the writing team of MAX T. BARNES and T.W. HALE, we have recieved the title cut; "A NIGHT TO REMEMBER"! As usual, Diffie creates a dark and depressing setting of a man filled with hurt and memories. When you first listento the song, you think the character is going out on the town, but when the chorus hits, you know that he's going to drown himself in the past. If this song doesn't hit #1, the radio stations in America are filled with fools!!!!! This song is Diffie's crowning achievement!Joe had always had a hand in writing his own material, and this time, he co-wrote 4 songs on the album: "YOU CAN'T GO HOME. ARE WE EVEN YET, and MY HEAR'S IN OVER MY HEAD"!"I'M THE ONLY THING I'LL HOLD AGAINST YOU", the 4th, was written for the late-great CONWAY TWITTY. This was one of Conway's last charted singles before his death in June of 1993. Joe does this song justice, without surpassing Conway!!!! If you're into the catchy, tounge-in-cheek-novelty-songs that Diffie is know for, there are none on this cd. The closest that he comes to that is "IT'S ALWAYS SOMETHING". The song, written by MARV GREEN and AIMEE MAYO, is absolutely fantastic!!! The song, a tale of a man that just can't lose his ex's memory, is unforgettable!!!! {IT'S ALWAYS SOMETING, EVERYWHERE REMINDING ME. EVERYWHERE I GO THERE'S A MEMORY. READY AND WAITING TO CATCH ME OFF GAURD. THERE'S NO WAY TO PREPARE MY HEART} From that line, you can see that this song is going to be a classic! My only question is; where has Diffie been hiding these songs?????One of my favorite cuts on this album is "BETTER OFF GONE" (written by Lonnie Wilson and Zack Turner {of the group Turner Nichols})! This is one of the most unusaul songs that I've ever heard. I can't describe it to you, so you'll just have to hear it for yourself!!!If I were to use two words to describe this album, I'd have to say: "LONG OVERDUE"!!!!I have waited for 5 years to hear Diffie sing with his heart!!!! This time, he has.

- Pretty good comeback

This was a pretty big comeback album for Joe Diffie after a couple of commercial failures. It's pretty serious compared to his earlier, more humorus releases. It has some great songs like the title track, 'It's Always Somethin', 'I'm The OnlyThing I'll Hold Against You', 'Better Off Gone' and the more upbeat 'The Quittin Kind' The rest of the songs are pretty average.

This is not a perfect album, only half of it is really memorable, but the songs that are memorable make it worth owning.

- Meaningful, much depth & passionate...

I have always admired Joe Diffie but with this new album, he absolutly blew me away. He is very versitle in his range which tells me that he can do anything with his voice. I am glad to see him make an album that steared away from the more humorous songs (which are wonderful also) and gear more towards the powerful ballads that are so passionate. I was glad to see that he also had a hand in writing several of the songs on this album. He must enjoy life, love and everyday

experiences to sing so beautifully. He impresses me more with each new album but this one in my opinion is by far the best yet. I admire him very much as an artist and a person.
