I had been interested in getting this CD when I found it on amazon.com a few weeks back. I just thought I would share this information for those who might think this is an album where all tracks are duets sung by Johnny Cash and his brother Tommy together, as it kind of gives that impression. I did some research and this is not the case unfortunately, it's just a budget compilation of Johnny Cash solo tracks and Tommy Cash solo tracks.
The Johnny Cash tracks are all his original studio recordings:
1. I Walk the Line
2. Folsom Prison Blues
3. Big River
4. Get Rhythm
5. Ballad of a Teenage Queen
The Tommy Cash tracks are re-recordings of his original recorded hit songs:
6. Six White Horses
7. Rise and Shine
8. One Song Away
9. Jezebel
The final track number 10. "I Guess Things Happen That Way" is the ONLY track where both brothers sing together... so the album is really quite misleading if you are expecting all songs to be reworkings by Johnny and Tommy together... just wanted to save people the disappointment who may have hoped for that, like me... so I'm not ordering now.
I was mainly excited to hear "Rise and Shine" sung by Johnny and Tommy together, as it is a favorite Carl Perkins song from his album "Disciple in Blue Suede Shoes" which I HIGHLY recommend if you are a fan of Carl Perkins and even more so if you are a Christian, as they are all songs he wrote regarding his faith... it's out of print but can be purchased in Amazon's marketplace
or look around on eBay... I got mine on Amazon's Marketplace back in 2006 brand new for $4.50!
"This budget priced collection splits its track list between singer and real estate agent Tommy Cash and his better-known older brother. The Johnny Cash cuts are the original recordings of five of his hits, while the Tommy Cash sides are re-recordings of his most popular songs, including "Six White Horses," as well as a duet with Johnny on "Guess Things Happen That Way."
I Find This Album, Well Worth Listening To. I Don`t Undedrstand Why Tommy Has Not Reached Out As Great AS Big Brother Johhny. I Like Him..
