Disco de Keith Urban: “Keith Urban”
Descripción (en inglés) :
Personnel: Keith Urban (vocals, acoustic & electric guitars, electric sitar, ganjo); Steve Wariner (acoustic & electric guitars, background vocals); Biff Watson (acoustic guitar); Bruce Bouton (steel guitar, dobro); Paul Franklin, (steel guitar); Aubrey Haynie (fiddle, mandolin); Steve Conn (accordion); Matt Rollings (piano, organ, synthesizer, background vocals); Glenn Worf (bass); Chris McHugh (drums, drum loops, percussion); Kim Keyes, Jerry Flowers, Tabitha Fair, Emily Robison, Martie Seidel, Curtis Young (background vocals); The Love Strings. <p>Principally recorded at Javelina Recording Studios, Nashville, Tennessee. <p>"Rollercoaster" was nominated for the 2001 Grammy Award for Best Country Instrumental Performance. <p>Keith Urban is Australian, but listening to his debut self-titled solo CD, you'd swear he was raised somewhere south of the Mason-Dixon line. Just as the Beatles mimicked the American accents of their musical heroes, Urban, the former leader of the group the Ranch, adopts the twang of the country stars he heard growing up Down Under. Urban's brand of country includes soulful vocals; a nice mix of acoustic and steel guitars, banjo, fiddles, and mandolins; and some fine songwriting, from Urban, Steve Wariner, and even two former members of the Go-Gos's (!) The subject here, with few exceptions, is love in all its aspects, from the hooky opening cut, "It's a Love Thing," to the gorgeous ballad "Your Everything," to the Cajun stomp of "I Wanna Be Your Man (Forever)." Urban's excellent guitar playing throughout the CD is tasteful and understated, but adds immeasurably to the arrangements. When he really cuts loose, on the instrumental "Rollercoaster," you can hear why acts like the Dixie Chicks and Garth Brooks tapped him to play on their CDs. Overall, KEITH URBAN offers a taste of what this talented singer, songwriter, and guitarist might do in the future.

- excellent debut!

Rick Mitchell's review - for Amazon - of Keith Urban's debut CD totally misses the point. This is a CD of good songs and good playing. The production is appropriately clean and hi-tech. Mitchell laments that Urban spends little time exploring themes of adult angst and disillusionment. I've got news for you Rick, I'm a 44-year-old who has experienced enough cynicism, nihlism, anger, and pain to last me a good long time. If a person as talented as Keith Urban cares to present direct, cynicism-free songs in such an appealing way, I am 100% for it. This CD isn't just for those who believe in love and life, it's for those who WANT to believe.

- Wonderful!

I feel Keith Urban is an incredible guitar player, singer, writer, etc. Don't know why he didn't have a lot of number one hits off this CD. Everybody that has listened to this CD at my house has gone out and purchased their own copy. I highly recommend purchasing this. (Actually I highly recommend purchasing any and all Keith Urban CD's!)

- SIMPLY IRRESISTABLE

Keith Urban is amazing. I bought this album when "Your Everything" was released and am expecting to replace it soon due to over use. This CD is the perfect mix of country and rock. It has love ballads that are sung with such feeling that they will melt your heart yet it has several tracks that make you want to dance or drive fast (not sure which). To the reviewer who said that only one track exibits Keith Urban's guitar prowess I say, "Watch him play! Whether live or an a video, Keith rocks!" I think his earring, barefoot, austrailian accent style helps to distiguish him from others and his cross over style will appeal to country and rock lovers alike! He is simply irresistable. This cd is a MUST have!

- What a talent keith urban is!

keith urban is one of country music's greatest performers. Combining country and pop to a style that can only be described as "urban", keith delivers a smashing album. Begining with the up-beat-make-ya-wanta-dance song "It's a Love Thing", you can tell right away there's something special here. The back-to-your-roots-influenced-by-pop song "Where the Blacktop Ends" continues the fun. To skip over a few songs, we come back to "A Little Luck of our Own", another good one. Again leaving a few out (don't worry, they're all good) we come to the instrumental "Rollercoaster." I normally don't like instrumentals, but this one is absolutely perfect. The CD ends with the sad "I Thought You Knew". Every song on this CD screams for a place at the top of the charts. Buy "keith urban" today, and you won't be sorry tomorrow.

- Keith's mellow crooning at it's best...a bit more restrained than his latest CD's

"Where The Blacktop Ends" is a favorite on this CD; I want to go barefoot just listening to it! "But For The Grace of God," "Your Everything," "It's A Love Thing," and the instrumental "Rollercoaster," make this CD a favorite for listening to anytime. Personally, I like to listen to this CD as I go to sleep at night. There's just something awesome about listening to Keith Urban's mellow voice crooning as you drift off to sleep that is very soothing. As I find typical of Keith Urban's music, there isn't a single song on this CD that I don't like. The instrumentation is exceptionally fine, as well as diverse. There's something on this CD for those who like the slow, ballad type songs, as well as for those who like the "southern" rock/country style. I purchased this CD after already loving "Golden Road" and "Be Here," so it was a "given" that I'd enjoy this cd as well.
