When Leann Rimes burst onto the country music scene as a full-fledged siren barely out of her teens, it was difficult to predict whether she'd have the staying power to last beyond her high school graduation. A few years later, this album featuring Rimes' versions of classic country tunes would make it evident that the young singer wasn't going anywhere but up. Despite the harsh words of detractors, she's far from the Britney Spears of country. Despite her years, Rimes possesses a truly remarkable voice and a style well beyond her years.

Despite the ostensible brashness of a '90s youngster taking on songs associated with Patsy Cline, Hank Williams, and other greats, Rimes displays enough chops to make for eminently convincing versions of such chestnuts as "Crazy" and "Lovesick Blues" (she packs a mean yodel, too). Traditionalists will be heartened to know that despite a touch of modern-sounding electric guitar, the arrangements echo the classic Nashville "countrypolitan" sound of decades bygone.

- LeAnn pays tribute....and does it well!
Numerous reviewers have complained because this is a CD of, primarily remakes. If you bought this CD and didn't read the list of songs, you have no one to blame but yourself...If on the other hand you bought LeAnn's self titled CD and didn't recognize the song titles...then, you are no long-term country fan and probably don't know these songs for the excellent country traditions they are! I also don't understand why so much comparison is made to Patsy Cline...LeAnn does as good a job as any singer I've ever heard (Ever hear Loretta Lynn's tribute to Patsy? I love Loretta...but, come on!)I think LeAnn does an admirable job at almost every cover, with the exception of the old Janis Joplin standard, Kristopherson's, "Me and Bobby McGee" and let's face it, those are pretty hard hippy boots to fill! But, in general, I was very pleasantly surprised at the quality of this CD. If you like Patsy, Hank, Marty, Bob, Janis, and Buck....buy it. It's a keeper!

- Music To My Ears
This is without question one of the best albums I have ever listened to and I am not strictly a country fan. I am amazed at the sincerity and feeling in such a young voice. These usually come from experencing the things you are singing about.LeAnn's singing of Patsy Clines hits is almost breath taking but then I am a romantic at heart.

- Patsy Cline would be proud!
LeAnn's voice has matured these past few years and she is now an amazing country singer (as always). I loved this album and it is so much fun to listen to! If you are a new country fan, buy this album to introduce yourself to all the classic songs. This album is great and I love LeAnn's voice. She is very talented and I think you all will agree!

- Great CD
This new LeAnn CD is great. It has a bunch of good songs in it like "Big Deal". LeAnn's voice is great in it with all the other CD's she made. I gave her the 5 stars because that's what she deserves. I hope she makes more great CD's soon. I will always enjoy the songs that she sings so well.

- The best album of 1999! LeAnn is the best!
LeAnn has been more than a great success mainly in the USA, but also a huge success all over the world on the charts, with awards, and big fans. LeAnn was so nice to honor country music's greatest artists like Hank Williams, Patsy Cline, and others. Like LeAnn said, she wants to bring back the traditional sound of country with her incredible album, and let my generation (of teens and kids of the 90's) let us know how country used to be heard as. Now country music is crossing over into other music catagories. This album sure did it! It was #1 on the Billboard Country Albums for 2 weeks, it went Gold in just 2 weeks, and has a Top 20 single! Congrats to LeAnn Rimes on a great album!
