For the die hard Linda fan, this will come as a disappointment. There is nothing new at all here. For those who are unfamiliar with her music (and unless you are a teen, what rock have you been hiding under the last 20 years?), this is an inexpensive introduction to this multi-talented singer. My one complaint is this is a 3 CD set with 10 songs per disc, which is only a marketing ploy. THE LINDA RONSTADT BOX SET which is not that easy to come by now, is really the definitive Ronstadt. Linda does not record often enough. She still possesses the greatest set of pipes in the business. She tours, despite her semi-retirement, so why is she not recording after several years? That's the question.
In the meantime, for the nostalgia buff, this is a thrifty little collection of her hits. I fall into that "die hard" category, so this set did little for me. The songs can be found on any number of CDs still available. I gave it 4 stars only because the label had the foresight to release another Linda package, albeit one of many "hits" packages. Let's hope we can see more of the goodies hidden in the WEA vault that has never seen the light of day in any format.
