Disco de Little Big Town: “The Road To Here”

I've been playing this CD in the car for the past week, and it has grown on me like the local Kudzu here in Georgia.

I love how LBT can glide effortlessly from a banjo-infected bluegrass-leaning song to something that sounds like the best of Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young from the 70's, then turn around and sound like the best of Blue Rodeo. There's not a bad cut on this CD.

With "Boondocks" on country radio, this CD is getting the exposure it deserves. The best CD I've heard this year, and best overall since the Sugarland CD.

There's less commercial flash (though it's still evident at times) and more personal effort from the members of Little Big Town on this, their second album, "The Road To Here." The album starts off fine with "Good As Gone." This tune drifts solidly into their radio hit, "Boondocks." This song, while drowning in commercial pop country lyrics, stands apart from most modern country due to the nice four-part harmony of the group. Another standout from this album is their other radio release, "Bring It On Home." In fact, this is probably the strongest song on the album. "Wounded" has a nice sound as well. Songs like "Bones," "A Little More You," and "Looking For A Reason," are good, but they all begin to sound alike as the album rolls along. The only glaring downfall in this album is the hokey, pop country drivel, "Welcome To The Family." It falls into the same category as other silly tunes like "American Honky Tonk Bar Association," where it seems that the songwriter tries too hard to make a cheesy country tune.

If you enjoy earthy, mostly acoustic four-part harmony, you'll enjoy this album. People who likes glitzier country groups like Rascal Flatts will probably like this, though it's quite a bit grittier than the bland Flatts sound. Fans of bluegrass-tinged groups such as Diamond Rio and even the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band will probably enjoy this much more.

Overall, a highly recommended album, though Little Big Town hasn't quite set themselves apart from the crowd.

This is by far one of the BEST CD's I've purchased in a very long time! Little Big Town's harmony's are absolutely amazing and their talents shines through in this CD! Highly Recomended!

I went to see Keith Urban last November, and on the way to the show heard "Boondocks" on the radio. I immediately loved the attitude in the lyrics and the harmonies, but had no idea what band it was. To my very pleasant surprise, I found Little Big Town to be opening for Keith Urban that night! They were simply fantastic, 100x better than any opening band I have ever seen, possibly besides Maroon 5 opening for John Mayer. If you think LBT sounds good on the records, see them in concert. Their live sound is mind bogglingly good. Their harmonies seem so natural, and their balance was perfect.

I have yet to pick up the first LBT cd, but will very soon. I am still quite occupied with "The Road to Here" though, as I keep getting hooked on a new song every couple of weeks. Right now it's "Fine with Me", a song that puts me in a fantastic mood no matter what kind of day I've had. I'm also a big fan of "Bones", which has an awesome bitter taste to it without being vindictive. I also agree with another reviewer who stated that the last song on the album, "Stay", is "simply devine". I'm a guy and I don't immediately go for the slow, sappy, acoustic songs like that, but this one just gets me. I love the simplicity of "Lost", the repetitiveness of the chorus only reinforces the pain of the song. My number one pick of the album is "Bring it on Home". It's such a sweet song, the kind that makes you say "awww" when you hear the lyrics.

I can't say enough great things about LBT. Buy the albums, see them live, you will NOT be disappointed.

I am from far away, it is not the music I usually hear, I went to the states, and I hear this band in the radio, after that I bought this CD, and I have to say that every song is a good song.
