- This one should earn a permanent spot in the CD Player

For any of you that are Lyle Lovett fans for his style and the talent he brings to the stage with him, this CD is for you. If you're a fan of the Large Band, if you dig the Texas sound - this CD should earn a permanent spot in the CD player next to Live in Texas and Road to Ensanada among others.

I haven't seen the movie, but from the names of the title tracks, I bet you could pretend you had. The first track, "Dr. T's Theme" gives you a taste of a sultry cello-laden beat soon to be accompanied by inspiring piano melody later intertwined with spectacular acoustic guitar. I just hope Lyle can play this one on his next tour. You'll get a fill of sexy lounge piano and cello in "Mall Women".

If it's Texas Music you're looking for, the "Bree Shuffle," "Golf Cart Love," and "Bridal Shower" will transport you to the nearest honkey tonk in Dallas - ok maybe an up-scale-ish honkey tonk you might find Lyle playing at, but never the less, a honkey tonk in Dallas, or Austin perhaps.

For the famous Lovett Lyrics, while this album is mostly instrumental, there are a few songs that will satisfy the craving. The songs with vocals are also on his album "Joshua Judges Ruth" (except for the last song, "Ain't It Something") so if that's all you're looking for, there are more vocals on "Joshua Judges Ruth". "You've Been So Good for So Long" covers the rock/electric guitar slides in there. And "She Already Made Up Her Mind" is more ballad-y like Road to Ensanada or something similar.

And I can't finish writing about this album until I comment on Lyle's response to hollywood. "The Crash" is a score that doesn't match the "Texas" style theme music he's got going on in the rest of this album. You could put this one on for Halloween, it's fantastic....

- Grrrreat!

I love this cd! The music is just the kind I like. Not like these action packed film soundtrack's with the with the blast through the wall rock music. This was nice. I liked almost all the songs on this cd. It will definetely be a favorite!

- From the samples it sounds like another winner to me

I just wanted to correct the review. "Ain't It Something" isn't new. It's on the I Love Everybody CD. Lyle Lovett has put out 3 or 4 cds since Joshua Judges Ruth and they're all worth a listen.

- bought as a gift

I wouldn't listen to this type of music but it was a gift and the service was perfect
