- These are not the songs on the album

This is not a re-issue of her 1972 album of the same name. This is a collection of re-recorded songs from the 1990's The songs on this disc are studio versions of:

Rose Garden

Stand By Your Man

Heaven's Just A Sin Away

Blue Bayou

Listen To A Country Song

Devil Went Down To Georgia

Rodeo Cowboy

Gone At Last

Someday Soon

Top Of The World

The CD itself lists "Faithless Love" as being one of the tracks, but it is not included. If you were looking for her 1972 album to be re-issued, as I was, this is not what you're getting.

- not what its cracked up to be

very upset over this cd, they are rerecorded songs, not the same ones from the album, lynn anderson is a great singer but she should have left them the way they were , there was no need to update such classic songs

- Vinyl LP was a classic album from Lynn

NOTE - my review is for the original vinyl album, not for any identically titled CD to which Amazon may have mistakenly posted my review. As far as I know, that album has never been reissued on CD, though I wish it would be.

With a great title track supported by plenty of other great tracks, this is one of Lynn's finest albums. With plenty of bouncy, upbeat songs as well as a few brilliant ballads, the general style is fairly typical of Lynn's seventies music.

Side 1 opens with the title track, which was a number one country hit and deservedly so. Next is a cover of Reason to believe, a Tim Hardin song that many singers covered, especially in the sixties and seventies. The next track is particularly interesting as Lynn's then-husband and producer, co-wrote it but despite the marital ties, Jody Miller's version (recorded at around the same time) was released as a single. Both versions are equally brilliant. Next comes a fine cover of Everybody's reaching out for someone, followed by an outstanding ballad written by Boone's Farm, If I can't be your woman. Side 1 closes with Just keep it up, a brilliant song in which Lynn provides wise advice for a man wanting a woman to stay with him. Presumably, her various husbands didn't follow that advice.

Side 2 opens with Fool me, a catchy song that was a top ten country hit. Take my to your world, a cover of one of my favorite Tammy Wynette songs, follows. I think that Lynn recorded around a dozen covers of Tammy's songs over the years, so she was clearly a fan. Three more excellent songs (You're everything, It don't do no good to be a good girl, That's what loving you has meant to me) complete Side 2.

When Lynn recorded this album in 1972, she was at the peak of her popularity, riding on the back of her success with Rose garden the previous year, but she sustained that popularity for several more years among country fans, thanks to the quality of albums like this one.

- #1 Country Singer

I have been a fan of Lynn Andersons since I was old enough to listen to music. I grew up listening to her music and had an opportunity to see her live. I am 46 years old now and still choose her more on my I-pod than any other artist. She's great.
