- From country to pop.
Marie Osmond's last 2 solo albums of the '70's are finally given a release from 7ts records. Wonderful news, especially as I began to wonder if they'd be included in this series of remasters as the majority of the Osmonds back catalogue arrived on CD last year.
Still, the good news is that they sound wonderful and are beautifully presented. 'Who's Sorry Now' was Marie's last country album with Sonny James and came out in 1975. It's much the same as the previous two and is VERY short. This and 'In My Little Corner Of The World' both run for less than 25 minutes!
Marie was 16 in 1977 when 'This Is The Way That I Feel' came out. It's long been a fan favourite featuring the classic title track (written by the same guy who wrote 'One Bad Apple') along with two classic Osmonds penned songs in 'Cry Baby Cry' and 'Play The Music Loud' and covers of 'Miss You Nights' (she does a brilliant version of this), 'Where Did Our Love Go' and 'Run To Me' It's a very poppy/soulful affair and Marie adapts well to the style sounding very Olivia Newton-John-esque at times. It's a real shame it didn't do better and much like her album with Donny, 'New Season' recorded at around the same time, it's something of a 'lost' album.
Summing up, if you're a fan you won't need me to tell you to get this. It's what we've all been waiting for. Now then, 7ts, what about 'Donald Clark Osmond' next?!

- Finally, a geat CD release of a favorite LP!
Marie's voice is great, sometimes reflecting that of Olivia Newton-John. This collection is great, especially from the LP "This is the Way that I Feel." It's Marie's most contemporary or "pop" sound (late 70s) and the tracks are awesome. Be careful though: it's great to listen to her pleasing and relaxing voice, but don't let the reminiscing or memories of a past loved-one get you down. Remember, there's always hope in finding that right person to share your life. Marie has one of those voices that is just peaceful and expresses feelings of great depth.
- fine album of great music by Marie Osmond
Marie Osmond sounds nothing less than stellar on this twofer CD that has all the songs from two of her record albums entitled Who's Sorry Now and This Is the Way That I Feel. This CD is a must-have for Marie's fans; she never sounded better and I love this music. The quality of the sound is excellent and I like that artwork.
"Who's Sorry Now" starts the track set off with Marie singing at her usual very best; and her voice is as clear as a bell. The background chorus enhances the number--not that Marie ever really needed backup, but they do sound pretty good anyway. "Anytime" has a wonderful country flavor that I always enjoy; and there's yet another gem in "Love Letters in the Sand." Marie covers this song like a pro--what a songbird! In addition, "Making Believe" is quite memorable; and I really like "Among My Souvenirs." Marie sings "Among My Souvenirs" with panache and it's heavenly.
"Jealous Heart" gets the royal treatment from Marie Osmond who delivers this without letting go of a superfluous note; and "This Is the Way That I Feel" has a pop flavor that really sounds great. How's about that keyboard work on "This Is the Way That I Feel?" "Play The Music Loud" impresses me with its fine arrangement; Marie handles this as effortlessly as if it were mere breathing--but of course we know it really wasn't all that easy. Marie's talent always carries her through. "Please Tell Him That I Say Hello" again has a beautiful country feel to it that I find irresistible; I could never tire of hearing Marie sing this tune!
"Miss You Nights" is beautiful and poignant; and Marie does a great job on her cover of "Where Did Our Love Go." The percussion enhances the musical arrangement, too. Awesome! "Cry, Baby, Cry" is quite well done; and "You re My Superman (You re My Everything)" is a terrific pop/rock love tune with just a slight touch of country thrown in for good measure; and it all holds its own very well. "All He Did Was Tell Me Lies" stuns me with its beauty; and this album ends with Marie Osmond doing a sublime rendition of "Run to Me."
Marie Osmond is an institution; she has given so much of herself when she has entertained us and sang to us. She always pours her heart and soul into everything she sings; and this album proves it. I highly recommend this for Marie's fans; and it's also wonderful for people just getting to know the remarkable talent of Marie Osmond.

- 17-year old Marie Osmond at her best
There is only one reason why I bought this 2-in-1 CD: "This Is The Way That I Feel".
I'd skip the first 10 tracks.
I had the original album in 1978 and its been with me for about a decade, before I lost it while relocating.
This was (and still is) 17 year-old Marie at her best. Far more sophisticated than her previous solo and D&M albums. She should have stayed the course, instead of reverting to country in her later albums.
Her renditions of 'Run To Me' and 'Miss You Nights' are to me, the best yet and also the most feminine interpretations of the Bee Gees and Cliff Richard hits that I've heard, respectively.
This is a classic, as it became so rare after the albums were discontinued and lots have enquired in YouTube and e-Bay, even requesting Polygram (under their 'Polydor' label) for a re-release in CD format. But nothing, all these years ... until now, thanks to 7Ts for the original master tape transfers to CD.
Now we can all enjoy that sweet voice all over again. Marie Osmond.
