Disco de Merle Haggard: “I'm a Lonesome Fugitive”
Descripción (en inglés) :
Digitally remastered by Mark Chalecki (Capitol Mastering).

This is part of Capitol's Cornerstone series.

From the late 1960s until the mid-1980s, no country artist dominated the charts like Merle Haggard. During that stretch, Haggard amassed an incredible 38 number 1 records and more than a dozen other top 10 hits. I'M A LONESOME FUGITIVE returns fans to Haggard's starting line, to the moment when the legend's star first rose. This is the album that yielded Haggard's very first chart-topper (the title track) and forever cemented his reputation as "the working man's poet."

FUGITIVE shows Haggard assembling the building blocks of "the Bakersfield sound" that he and Buck Owens popularized. Guitarists Glen Campbell and James Burton, pedal steel guitarist Ralph Mooney, and pianist Glen D. Hardin form the lively nucleus around which Haggard spins his tales of prisoners, drunkards, and love's losers. Like all of Haggard's Capitol recordings, FUGITIVE is an indispensable piece of country music history. It's also a great record.

- Superb, a must for any Merle fan
One of Merle's truly outstanding albums from his earlier works. Tracks like 'I'm a lonesome fugitive' and 'Drink up and be somebody' are the tracks that stand out. 'House of memories', (is also the title of his biography, well worth the read I believe that Amazon[.com] have the title in stock) and an excellent track. It is all good, no filler on this album.
I have heard this album several times when my dad used to play it, and I simply had to have a copy on CD.
If you are a Merle Haggard fan, you will certainly not be disappointed.
- Ignorant but happy
I wouldn't consider myself knowledgeable in country music, but I'm a huge fan of just about all I listen to pre-1980.
This is some 60's shiz man, and every song is like a lesson is archetypal country picking.
For songs of drinking, jail and heartbreak with a prototypical brilliant pickin' backtrack, you can't do much better than this gem.
So happy I stumbled into it.
As a degenerate I appreciate the soul and lyrics in my heart; as a guitar player, I admire and revere it's subtle, crushing picking work.
