- The rest of Sammy's best at Mercury

This second volume of hits contains most of Kershaw's singles between 1995 and 2000. While the first set - covering 1991 to 1995 - was dominated by high-octane top-ten efforts ("Cadillac Style," "She Don't Know She's Beautiful," "Third-Rate Romance" among them), only three recordings on this collection hit that top-ten plateau ("Vidalia," "Meant To Be," "Love Of My Life"). For Kershaw, however, this signifies more a fall from favor at country radio than a decline in quality, as the material on this second collection is just as good.

If Chapter One concentrated on Kershaw the honky-tonker, the eleven-track Chapter Two emphasizes his softer side. "Love Of My Life" - Kershaw's signature hit - led him in the direction of country crooner. While it's a gem - as are other ballads like the Lorrie Morgan duet "Maybe Not Tonight" and the heartbreaker "Matches" - the rowdier numbers like "Me And Maxine" and the non-single "Louisiana Hot Sauce" (added for balance) clearly show that honky-tonkin' is what Kershaw does best.

After leaving Mercury last year, Kershaw signed a duet deal with Lorrie Morgan at RCA. Although Chapter Two isn't quite complete (top forty faves "Fit To Be Tied Down," "If You're Gonna Walk, I'm Gonna Crawl," and the philosophical "One Day Left To Live" were left off), it makes a strong argument - combined with Chapter One - for Kershaw being one of the '90s top male country artists.
