Anyone familiar with The Statler Brothers doesn't need me to tell them whether or not they're gonna like this CD. It's a reissue of their Columbia Records debut album from 1966 and features the original mega-hit version of the title song. The rest of the album is just as nice with a good mixture of standards, then-recent favorites, and a few originals. Every track sports the classic Statler harmonies and any fan of the group will love this CD. My only complaint, and why I didn't give it 5 stars, was that half of song #11 is on track #10. So track 11 starts in the middle of the song! These things happen, I guess, but I wish Ranwood would have corrected this error before the CD was released.
Good buy! The original four Statler Brothers is a must have for their fans. Starting with 'Flowers on the Wall,' the CD is an iconic blending of their four voices.
This album of the early Statler Brothers contains songs not found on any of thier other albums. As a true Statler Brothers fan I especially enjoyed the silly songs. The unique harmonies of this group are not matched by any others.
I had this album on vinyl and have been looking for it on cd for years. I lives up to my memory. The Doodlin' Song is on none of their other albums and is just a the main reason I wanted this album. It will not disappoint if you are a Statler Bros. fan. Now if I could just find the Boots on Ice album!
