The appeal of the Statlers lies partly in the simplicity of their music, partly in their ability to harmonize well some of the time while providing contrasting lead vocals at other times, and partly in their brilliant songs - sometimes about love, sometimes about nostalgia and occasionally funny, although this particular album focuses on love songs.
This was the second Statlers album to feature Jimmy Fortune. With classic songs such as the title track, Hollywood, One takes the blame and My only love, this album provided further proof that Jimmy was the right replacement for Lew DeWitt. Other great songs include If it makes any difference and No love lost, but every song here is enjoyable as you would expect on a Statlers album.
If you enjoy the music of the Statler Brothers, you'll love this album.
Good music. Had not listened to the album in maybe 20 years, but my 8 year old is "into" my old music stash. Glad to find him a tape. The Statlers had a considerable change in sound from 1975 to 1985. Tape arrived on time and in good condition.
