With A PLACE IN THE SUN, Tim McGraw, the son of legendary baseball player Tug McGraw, has hit a musical home run. The follow-up to his insanely successful EVERYWHERE, A PLACE IN THE SUN contains McGraw's signature mix of traditional country, humor, romance and rowdiness. McGraw has a real talent for choosing well-crafted, slightly off-kilter songs (from top Nashville talents like Walt Alridge, Phil Vassar, Hillary Kanter and Mark Nesler), and delivering them so convincingly that you can almost believe he's the one who wrote them.

The 15 tracks range from the hard country of "She'll Have You Back" (the punch line is "...back to drinking in no time") to the heartfelt romance of "My Best Friend" to the sweeping grandeur of "Please Remember Me" (featuring harmonies by Patty Loveless). Highlights include "The Trouble With Never," the boisterous "Something Like That" and "My Next Thirty Years," a fantastic song about a man saying good-bye to his youth while he prepares, with some trepidation, to face the second half of his life. Fans may be disappointed to find there's no duet with McGraw's wife, Faith Hill. However, even with the lack of that crowd-pleasing element, A PLACE IN THE SUN truly shines.

- A Must Have...
Mr. McGraw's fifth cd, 'A Place In The Sun' is by far the best album of 1999. Songs like "My Best Friend", "Some things Never Change", and "A Place in the Sun" are songs that could make you melt. Songs like "Something Like That," "Seventeen," "She'll Have You Back," and "My Next Thirty" have a more fun - party feel to them. Tim's cd "A Place in the Sun", which was named CMA album of the year, and which has aready been certified double platium is a must have for any music fan.

- His best yet
Before this Cd i wasn't sure what was my favorite kind of music until I heard it. This is probally the best i've heard. With pulse rising songs like something like that, and a place in the sun, this cd can really get you going. And with songs like Somebody must be praying for me, you can find a song for just about any mood your in. This Cd could be the signature of country, that could carry it thru anything. There is not a bad song on it. The heck with 5 stars it deserves it's own constellation.

- wonderful!
this is tim mcgraw at his best. although this album is not exactly the same as his others, it is great in its own right. a lot of the songs are slower, but they all have a wonderful message and tim's voice is perfect for each of them. if you love country music, this cd is a must!

Tim Mcgraw is getting better with age. Love surley has something to do with this album. I don't know if he can ever beat All I Want, that was a 5 star album. But my best friend will surely be on of his biggest hits of all time. Most album get boring after the first two songs, this album you will enjoy til the last song.

- Not Too Bad
All in all it is not a bad CD. With songs like "She'll have you back" Tim goes back into the honky tonk type of music that has made Brooks and Dunn famous. However, there are a few songs that are quite slow and Tim seems to go into that whole gushy, emotional sounding wimp. He has a good country voice and it would be great for him not to do so many soft slow ballads. Although I love "Some things never change" this is one of the best songs on the album. The number 1 song "Please Remember Me" is quite that as well. That's why it was number 1. A little downer but has some good qualities. Hope we can repeat an "Everywhere" next time around Tim. :)
