- Byrd's Debut is one of our favorite CD's of the Decade!

Of course you remember the hit singles like Talk To Me Texas and Holdin' Heaven (A No. 1 Hit). Play those to this day and the two-step ring will be packed. But, have you gone back and listened to Tracy's debut CD. It's a classic. I once took a trip to Georgia and put this CD in at the beginning of the trip. When I got back, I realized that I had left it in all weekend!

One of the little known singles Why Don't The Telephone Ring may have not garnered much attention from country radio; but, it's on our list as one of the best ballads of the decade. We would love to hear this re-released. The lyrics ring as true as Tracy's voice. The CD opens with one of our favorite songs, That's The Thing About A Memory, co-written by Tracy and producer Keith Stegall (Alan Jackson's Producer). While there are several exceptional songs to mention, it's really just Tracy's voice that carries the CD through songs such as Back In The Swing of Things, Why and Someone to Give My Love To, another Paychek remake. He showed on his freshmen outing that he could sing any type of song you put in front of him. That's why this CD is on our Top 100 of All Time. If there's no real country in our near future, maybe you should check this one out!

- Tracy Byrd Debut Impresses Like Early Strait

Alright...George Stait has always been tall cotton. Still, it's obvious that the powers that be thought Byrd's sound would apeal to George's fans. It was a solid gamble. 10 solid tracks make up this set. Okay, Byrd has been pigeon-holed over the years into singing some silly songs. But he's done them all with flare and with toungue-in-cheak grace. Tracy is truly underrated, and all of his work deserves a place in anyone's Country music collection.
