Tracy Lawrence was such a solid hitmaker during most of the `90s that he could include a dozen major hits on his 1998 BEST OF collection and still manage to leave off eight others. Thankfully, this bargain priced volume Country Classics picks up most of those which were previously left off: 1992's "Sticks And Stones" (#1 Billboard Country Charts), "Today's Lonely Fool" (#3), "Runnin' Behind" (#4); 1993's "My Second Home" (#1); 1995's "As Any Fool Can See" (#2); 1996's "If You Loved Me" (#4); 1997's "How A Cowgirl Says Goodbye" (#4). Also, his post-hits collection smash, 2000's "Lessons Learned" (#3). COUNTRY CLASSICS also repeats two hits from Best Of: "Better Man, Better Off" and "If The Good Die Young." I wish they had replaced those duplicate hits with two of the following: "1993's top tenner "Somebody Paints The Wall," 2000's top 20 "Lonely" or 2001's top 40 "Unforgiven" (the last one may not have charted that high, but it certainly contained one of Lawrence's best vocals ever). Still, it's a great supplement to his first hits set and it is hard to find fault with the price.
