- Yet another great release from the Austin City Limits vault

The PBS program "Live from Austin City Limits" has hosted just about every significant musician over the years its been on the air and has a staggering catalog of recordings.

I'd like to see a lot more of these Austin City Limits shows re-released with the entire performance, not the 55-odd minutes that fit in TV's time slot. (For the record, this appearance is one that is available on DVD.)

This 1990 performance by Willie on Austin City Limits is a great overview of his career. It's sort of a "live best-of" performance. Due to time limits, Willie keeps most songs short, so he can cover as many as possible. As a result, everything seems a bit fast-paced and a lot of songs segue from one to another. I'd have liked more long, slow songs done as only Willie can do them. But that's a minor complaint. Overall, this is a nice overview of his music, from his Nashville songwriting days up to this 1990 performance.

It's not the best release in Nelson's deep catalog, but it's in the top 10 percent. I enjoy listening to it and can't really complain about anything except for the feeling that he's rushing through some songs where he should "stay a little longer."

- A Texas Treasure!

In a crazy world this man is truly a kind soul. His music comes from the heart and is beautiful in its simplicity. If you have ever been to one of his 4th of July picnics this will bring those memories flooding back to you even after a hard days work on your drive home. I mean who does not love Willie Nelson?

- classic willie and a rather large fan club

willie and austin is like peanut butter and jelly..[ or maybe i should say beer and pretzels]..they are a perfect match.this release showcases everthing great about the legend that is willie nelson... live from austin city limits, is such a remarkable venue,,plus willie and his band are in absolute tip top shape tonight.!! willie navigates through the full spectrum of his sizable catalog of hits,,, with style and class befitting such a great master of western swing and country. no need to dissect and analyse his performance as it is superb throughout ! if you are even a casual fan of these genres of music i would recommend you get yourself a copy of this release, as it is a CLASSIC !! i would also recommend willie with, asleep at the wheel, from austin city limits...it's another great concert from this fine venue;; and another showcase for willie and a group of really fine musicians.

- Willie is so extraordinary!

Willie Nelson never disappoints. As someone who has bought his recordings for the past 40 years, I still find him mesmerizing with his guitar pickin and his phrasing is legendary. Love Willie Nelson's "Live From Austin Texas".

- Disappointed. Here's why:

I like Willie Nelson. That's why I bought this. It seemed like a nice collection of his hits. After just a few songs, I realized he was basically talking the lyrics instead of singing them. It seemed so lazy. Has he lost his vocal range? Has his selection of recreational smoke affected his vocal chords? I wish I had just bought an earlier version of his hits album and not this tired recent live version. If I promise to delete the whole album, can I have my money back if I promise to buy another Willie Nelson album?
