- Far Out! From The Rocky Mountain Kid Himself!

This is a wonderful compilation featuring most of the best songs written and performed by John Denver. This is one of the first of the posthumous releases of many his best-known songs. Included are many of the monster hits that propelled him into amazing popularity and superstardom in the early 1970s. In his heyday no one was outselling his albums or out-booking John for concert appearances, and considering the incredible talents on the scene at the time, that is a pretty good indication of just how popular he was, and just how universal John Denver's appeal was. No one else sang of the wide-open possibilities and seemingly limitless possibilities for a good life awaited those who would free themselves from the bonds that confined them and just dare to soar along with him in the wild open spaces.

Many of the tracks here are terrific, from "Rocky Mountain High" to "Annie's Song", from "Rhymes And Reasons" to "How Can I Leave you Again", from "Seasons Of the Heart" to "Shanghai Breezes". John, more than any of his contemporaries, actively caught the public's imagination regarding the wonders of the natural environment, and in a time when environmental concerns were splashed all over the headlines and the evening news, John's vision of popular concern for and stewardship of the natural world was immensely important. I love a number of the songs here, including "You're So Beautiful" to "I'm Sorry", to "Sunshine On My Shoulders", to "Goodbye Again", and my own personal favorite, "Farewell Andromeda". This album represents a wonderful overview of the work of John as he thrilled a whole generation with his own perspective of a meaningful life lived in the natural splendor of nature. I know you will enjoy this as well as all of his other albums. Far out!

- No better collection

You just can't get a better collection of John Denver! This one has it all. I can say in all honesty there isn't a single song in this collection that I don't enjoy. I love all types of music, from Guns and Roses and Cinderella to Mozart and Vivaldi. But John Denver holds a very special place for me. His simple writing techniques paint a picture and his incredible voice convey so much feeling for this wannabe "country girl". John Denver makes you take notice of an incredible sunset and makes you feel good to be alive. It's not unusual for me to pick up this CD set after not listening to it for awhile and just cry over the beauty of some of the songs. I love you John, and I wish you were still around today. This world today could really use you.

- Excellent set of greatest hits

I purchased this set after looking extensively for a good compilation of his greatest hits, and I must say that I have been overwhelmed. As some of the other reviews say, some of the mixes are a little different than I remember, but most of the new versions seem almost more "intimate" and less "mass market", so I like them better. And you can't ask for a more complete set of his best works.

I was so surprised when I received this to see that it was a three cd set for such a reasonable price! There are versions of all his popular songs (some are different versions since it is an Australian import), but more importantly, the set spans his entire career and his growth and maturity as a musician. I highly recommend this to both the occasional fan, and the truly devoted. :-)

- THE BEST COLLECTION OF JOHN DENVER AVAILABLE

John Denver is probably one of the most misunderstood songwriter performers in music. He began as a replacement in The Chad Mitchell Trio and once Folk music died. John Denver went solo because he was a winner. He went on to be very commercially successful, T.V., FAR OUT! That was not John Denver. He was a very serious, poetic songwriter. It is so sad to me, as it was to him, how misunderstood, and misinterpreted he was.this is the best collection you could possibly buy of John Denver. The price is very reasonable for such a complete collection. There isn't a better COLLECTION than this, at all, period.
